The Opportunity
In this role you will have the opportunity to function as a technical IP/Data Network Cybersecurity Engineer. With minimal oversight, while taking direction from Sr. Network Cybersecurity Engineer(s) and Network Architect(s) to develop and apply intermediate to moderate secure network concepts and approaches supporting industrial and critical infrastructure data network design and engineering problems. May lead engineering staff on projects of medium to high complexity or serve as a technical resource providing knowledge and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
The role is for a Senior OT Secure Data Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for portions of IP network planning, assessment, design, implementation, and optimization for Black & Veatch clients. Provides intermediate technical support to business development and pursuit activities, including assisting in the creation of proposal, scope, level of effort estimation and implementation plans. Participates in project execution and technical delivery.
Key duties include:
- Assesses and understand how applicable industry standards for models apply to secure network communications design
- Configuration, installation, commission, integration and testing of secure IP/Data Network, and Cybersecurity devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, Intrusion Detection Sensors, SIEM’s, Optical Transport and related fiber and cable management, and rack and cabling design
- Complete site survey network and cybersecurity infrastructure assessments, evaluation, and documentation
- Complete cybersecurity policy, process and risk assessments, posture evaluations and security device configuration compliance review
- Evaluate, refine, and implement enhanced best-practice IP packet and wireless network designs
- Communicating directly with clients (sometimes non-technical clients) to identify current and future network and telecommunication needs
- Collaborate with network and cybersecurity customer peer engineers
- Participates as technical projects and application rollouts
- Responsible for developing secure network documentation including Visio or CAD packages, system and functional requirements
- Work hand-in-hand with project management on technical issues for optimal customer satisfaction
- May assists in developing and managing project scope, schedule and budget requirements
- Supports continuous improvement of project and internal processes
- Versed in impact and influence of change management, maintenance window activities and rollback procedures related to infrastructure migration strategies
- Documentation and processes development
- May validate work of peer secure network engineers
- Capable of optimizing day-to-day operational stability with the continual need to improve the service and deploy new services, processes and technologies
- Understands, advocates, and supports IT and OT integration strategies
- Proactively support the pursuit and development of current and new business opportunities
- Ability to identify issues and provide feedback for best practices implementation
