General Information:
The Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (IIHHS) is seeking a part-time Bilingual Community Health Educator for its Community Health Education program. The position will assist the Institute’s Promotores de Salud program and partner with the South River Watershed Coalition to educate the Latino Community about fish consumption advisories related to mercury contamination of the South and South Fork Shenandoah Rivers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop educational outreach programs and create flyers, brochures and other materials related to the Fish Consumption Advisories in English and Spanish.
• Maintain and create partnerships with community agencies in Waynesboro and surrounding South River communities to plan and implement outreach community events.
• Implement strategies to create, maintain and create relationships with community members and Promotores de Salud.
• Maintain a calendar of community events and workshops and attend these events to educate the Latinos about Fish Consumption Advisories and mercury contamination.
• Collect data to prepare reports as needed for the IIHHS departments, sponsors (bi-monthly report) and other agencies.
• Translate materials, including newsletters, brochures, flyers and others documents from English to Spanish.
• Attend virtual or in-person meetings as needed with local organizations including the South River Watershed Coalition and the Latino Health Community Council.
