Greenhouse Assistant

This is a full-time position working M-F, 7am-3:30pm. Days and hours could vary due to business needs. The starting pay for this position is $18.34 per hour. Weekly earned wage access is an option for this position.

Job Purpose or Objective(s):  To provide the Growing Hope Program with thoughtful assistance to help grow out Choctaw heritage plants, in preserving and sharing their seeds, and in sharing knowledge about traditional agriculture and traditional food with the Choctaw community. You will report to the Growing Hope Manager.

Primary Tasks:

1.       You will plant, harvest, manage plants and seed stocks.

2.       Inspect plants for pest and plant nutrition problems.

3.       Maintain sanitary growing conditions in assigned areas.

4.       Collect and record data, inform of specific pest or plant or plant nutrition problems.

5.       You will mail or otherwise distribute seeds from the Growing Hope program to Choctaw growers.

6.       Assist with community classes and presentations.

7.       Work with interns.

8.       Perform other tasks necessary as assigned.

Requirements:

·         High School diploma or equivalent

·         Ability to correspond, verbal and written skills

·         Work independently and proceed with goals without close supervision

·         Self-motivated, willingness to learn, organizational skills and have a good work ethic

·         Willingness to work as a team member
