The Opportunity
As a Process/Chemical Engineer 1, you would function as a technical specialist, developing process solutions, performing treatment evaluations, and developing designs for facility enhancements. With some direction, you will develop and apply fundamental process engineering techniques, concepts, and approaches to solve complex water quality treatment problems. You will provide technical assistance on Wastewater projects.
The EDGE Program is a personalized rotational program designed for early-career professionals to provide development opportunities. As part of the program, you will complete 3-4 job rotations spanning over 3-4 years, including one field rotation on a project site to help you gain a better understanding of the full-project lifecycle. Throughout the program, you will be assigned a high-level leader to guide you in your career and engage in strategic quarterly trainings to gain insights into the various projects at Black & Veatch.
Duties may include:

Setup and run models to evaluate equipment and optimize performance

Develop recommendations for equipment, operating ranges, chemical type and range for both existing and new facilities

Develops familiarity by reading, understanding, and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures

Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope

Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection

Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work
Preferred Qualifications
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Intermittent travel to project sites
- Short-term and long-term relocation to project sites and regional offices
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Biological Systems Engineering. FE Obtained
- Experience or knowledge in Wastewater preferred
- Strong background and expertise in environmental water, chemical, or biological processes and engineering systems
- Knowledge of water or wastewater treatment process engineering principles or process modeling software
- Technical Skills in leadership, collaboration, communication, and teamwork
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized ABET accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
