Job Title: Warehouse Specialist-Shag Truck Operator
Location: Hy-Vee Specialty Foods Warehouse
FLSA: Non-Exempt
General Function:
Responsible for operating all company vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional manner to ensure prompt delivery of products to customers. Additionally responsible for shagging trailers, maintaining an organized lot, substituting as a route driver, and all the functions of a warehouse generalist.
This position will require you to work as both a Warehouse Specialist and a Shag Truck operator depending on the workload of the day.

Reporting Relations:
Accountable and Reports to: Group Vice President, Specialty Foods Warehouse; Warehouse Manager, Specialty Foods Warehouse; Warehouse Supervisor(s), Specialty Foods Warehouse; Asst. Warehouse Supervisor(s), Specialty Foods Warehouse

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
- Adheres to company policies and departmental guidelines.
- Operates shag truck, semi-tractor, and trailer in a safe and professional manner while following all laws and regulations.
- Responsible for backhauls including, but not limited to: verifying product counts, quality control, tagging appropriate pallets, notifying dispatch of any changes or discrepancies, and completing required paperwork.
- Responsible for general vehicle inspection prior to departure, during, and after all deliveries along with temperature control of reefer unit. Must report and rectify any issues before departure.
- Required to refuel truck and trailer when needed.
- Ensures that security measures and practices are implemented and comply with all Specialty Foods Warehouse security procedures when monitoring non-Specialty Foods Warehouse-employed truck drivers and/or visitors.
- Performs daily safety inspection of power equipment. Ensures required safety equipment is being utilized and policies are followed with equipment being operated in a safe manner.
- Keeps work environment clean and neat by sweeping and picking up cardboard, plastic wrap, and totes.
- Responsible for accurately and timely selecting orders via a voice automated selection system and safely palletizing merchandise for shipment to assigned stores, ensuring the product does not become damaged.
- Shuttles trailers and monitors spots for loading and unloading of product.
- Attends departmental and company meetings.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Accurately replenishes merchandise to selected slots.
- Stages received product for replenishment.
- Performs Warehouse Generalist I tasks as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Education/Experience Required to Perform Job:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must possess and maintain a class A Department of Transportation Commercial Driver’s License, with air brakes endorsements.
- Must have the ability to meet language and hearing capabilities for voice automated selection.
- Must have the ability to follow one or two-step instructions; routine, repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Upon certification, must safely operate both single and double pallet jacks, forklift, and stock picker.
- Ability to handle multiple projects with good attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Visual requirements include clarity of vision at a distance of less than 20 inches and up to 20 feet or more with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
- Must be physically able to perform medium work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 50 pounds
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions
Equipment used to Perform Job:
Primary equipment– Shag truck (CDL required), tractor, forklift, handheld scanner.
Secondary equipment - single pallet jack, double pallet jack, stock picke
