About the role

The primary role of the Senior Associate Director is to serve as a member of the Undergraduate senior management team, advising and implementing the strategic institutional and enrollment goals set by the Vice President of Enrollment Management. The Senior Associate Director is responsible for managing a robust portfolio, in addition to managing members of the Admission team’s junior counseling staff, who also manage projects. Specifically responsible for providing managerial oversight to direct and indirect reports and assisting the Director with day to day management; stepping in for the Director and Dean in their absence; recruiting, advising, and enrolling prospective students to the College and serving as an integral member of a 15-person admission committee; presenting to various contingencies, including school counselors, students and parents, and community-based organizations; having sole responsibility for managing the recruitment of a geographic region of the world in which their primary responsibility is critically assessing applications, making critical and thoughtful admission decisions, and applying strategic thought to create an impactful and inclusive campus community; and managing all responsibilities while taking into consideration content and delivery modalities for both in-person and virtual audiences.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Under the Dean and Director of Admission, serves as the highest-ranking member of the senior management team and participates in weekly discussions and planning with Dean and Director of Admission. Participates with Dean and Director specifically in critical decision-making processes and assumes accountability for office and UG Admission team in the absence of Dean or Director of Admission. Has the ability and expertise to make admission decisions on behalf of the Dean or Director of Admission.

Leads a team in the overall management and implementation of the Admission Office’s strategic goals, which come from the College’s institutional goals and priorities. This may include self-management of marketing strategy, transfer admission, events management, international admission, and more. Also includes oversight of junior admission staff managing similar strategies.

Directly manages anywhere from 1 to 2 Assistant or Senior Assistant Directors of Admission or Customer Service Coordinator(s). This includes initial onboarding, oversight of goals, and overall professional growth and development.

Simultaneously supports all Admission strategies that reach both virtual and in-person audiences; has high-level knowledge of various platforms that support all admission initiatives.

Manages a geographic region of the world and is responsible for the oversight of enrollment funnel trends in those areas and seeks out opportunities for partnerships. Includes recruitment processes such as travel to high schools, college fairs, community-based organizations, and large-scale events in conjunction with campus partners. Cultivates relationships with students, school counselors, and community-based organization partners.

Reviews applications to the College, re-calculates GPA’s (Grade Point Averages), and makes admission decisions in concordance with the College’s core values, and a high level of academic prowess. Serves as a second reader for veteran and part-time staff members.

Liaises with on-campus partners to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships that ensure all aspects of the College’s experiences are represented throughout the admission process (i.e., Office of Student Engagement, Office of Athletics, Academic Administration, etc.)

Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor’s Degree

Requires a minimum of 8-10 years relevant admission or college counseling experience; and a minimum of 5 years managing staff and/or a budget.

Must embrace the philosophy of Entrepreneurial Thought & Action™ and use creativity and innovation in decision-making.

Ability to stay informed of industry trends and developments to help guide the Office’s admission process, operations, and enrollment goals

Must have a commitment to inclusive excellence.

Must have excellent public speaking, collaborative, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Google Suite.
