About the role
Summary
This Research Coordinator is responsible for implementing and coordinating the day-to-day activities, which include recruitment, screening, and enrollment of research participants, for the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) research study. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. This specific Research Coordinator will work in the El Paso region to interface with study participants in that geographical region.
Job Duties
- Through interaction with medical providers in El Paso, identifies prospective UDN participants and facilitates the prospective enrollees' online applications to the study.
- Presents case histories of UDN applicants to the UDN study team.
- Performs informed consent process with UDN study subjects.
- Maintain all study documents and regulatory paperwork for research studies including informed consent forms.
- Collect medical records from all the subjects from different sources after getting medical release signed by the families.
- Assist with clinical evaluations of study subjects, including getting them to the study site for research studies and facilitating remote evaluation with Baylor physicians in Houston.
- Serve as a translator for the families.
- Facilitate sample collection for study subjects and family members (i.e., ensure they are able to get to an approved blood draw location and the samples are shipped back to Baylor).
- Order supplies as needed for sample collection.
- Assist UDN study participants in scheduling tests and procedures such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and specialist evaluations.
- Retrieve and submit test results to UDN team.
- Complete data entry tasks in UDN and Baylor databases.
- Network with local medical providers to increase recruitment to the study.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate degree is preferred.
- Spanish language fluency.
- Previous knowledge or experience in clinical research is preferred.
