Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Art & Visual Culture, in the College of Design at Iowa State University (ISU), invites applications for the position of Lecturer (30% FTE) in the area metalsmithing and material studies. This appointment for this position is anticipated to begin October 1, 2025, and the initial length of the appointment will be until December 15, 2025, with possibility of renewal.
Qualified candidates will bring an in-depth knowledge in the art, design, and craft of metal and related materials and practices. Areas of expertise will include contemporary and traditional techniques embracing sculptural and functional approaches to making. Special attention will be given to candidates who bring an innovative approach to fabrication processes and critical knowledge of metals and related materials into their teaching and creative work. The position includes working with a wide variety of students from multiple design disciplines with a range of skill levels. The position responsibilities also include the maintenance of the metals studio and related equipment.

Required Qualifications:
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of successful college-level teaching experience
Demonstrated evidence of professional accomplishment
Experience in administering metals studio
Evidence of successful college level teaching experience beyond graduate assistantship
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications
