General Maintenance Lead Mechanic Full Time Days

Position Summary / Specifications
Performs a variety of duties in the repair, servicing and general maintenance of the hospital plant and equipment
Physical Demands:
· Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
· Frequent prolonged standing/walking
· Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking and/or sitting.
· Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs)
· Manual dexterity and mobility
· Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies

Working Conditions:
· Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment and steam and heat
· Exposed to hot or noisy equipment and environments
· Exposed to environmental extremes of working outdoors as required
Primary Duties
· Provide oversight, and assistance in repairing, installing and maintaining various HVAC systems.
· Interface with vendors and assist them in performing their work at the facility.
· Provide training to general maintenance workers, including any new hires, in DDC controls, HVAC/R components and daily operation of those components.
· Take daily readings and adjust unit to maintain proper water temperature.
· Inspection, operation, maintenance of boilers and related systems including feed water system and pumping components.
· Makes required adjustments to boiler controls.
· Repair and maintain controls for boilers.
· Repair and replace motors and controls for chilled and hot water systems.
· Monitor, inspect and maintain medical air/gas system, fire and emergency generators.
· Make repairs to Plant air vacuum and medical systems.
· Monitor computerized fire system and cooling and heating system.
· Check all fluid levels in emergency generators.
· Check all batteries, hoses, and connections for wear and repair/replace as necessary.
· Conducts job duties according to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety / sanitation standards, environmental and infection control standards
· Performs basic plumbing, electrical repair, steam fitting and general maintenance on such items as food carts, operating tables, sterilizers, beds, dishwashing machines, stoves, hot water tanks and air conditioning.
· Services equipment by lubricating, cleaning, replacing parts and making minor adjustments.
· Makes repairs on toilets, water and steam lines, clogged drains, and sprinkler systems.
· Performs building maintenance requiring basic carpentry, painting, plastering and other related duties.
· Assists in the repair of complex equipment.
· Assists with the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
· Attends required number of departmental meetings per year.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
· High School or equivalent
· Knowledge of public safety regulations for boiler plant operations and life safety.
· Sufficient previous experience in power plant operation and maintenance or related trade for 5 years or more.
Certification:
· Maintains current, appropriate DMV licensure, Class C California Driver’s license or Class B (if necessary)
· 500 HP La.A Steam License – Must have or obtain within 1 year of employment
Hours: 6a-2:30p
Schedule: Monday thru Friday. On call every 4th week.
