Job Title: Non-Duke Student/Intern
Working Title: OPSD-Duke PRIME PUMP Student Assistant
(Internship duration: June 2 - July 25, 2025)
Occupational Summary
The classification established for any non-Duke student paid at an hourly rate. This includes high school students, visiting undergraduate students, and hourly visiting graduate students. the incumbent will perform various duties as assigned by the department. incumbents are compensated at varying rates of pay based upon the work being performed and according to the pay schedule developed and maintained for each department. Incumbents must be paid at least minimum wage.
Work Performed
The Internship duration is June 2 - July 25, 2025
Primary responsibilities of the OPSD-Duke PRIME PUMP Student Assistant are as follows:
§ Participate in a laboratory research project under the mentorship of Duke Faculty and lab team
§ Attend structured professional development and networking sessions in research methodology and career development
§ Participate in clinical activities related to the faculty mentor’s area of research
§ Collaborate with faculty, staff and medical students
§ Deliver a presentation about the research experience
Please note these additional requirements:
§ Available to start on campus June 2nd
§ United States citizen or permanent resident
§ Commit to full-time (40 hours/week) research for a duration eight weeks
§ Provide names/contact information of two references
§ Required submission of Curriculum Vitae and Undergraduate transcript
§ Clinical shadowing vaccine requirements: TB, MMR, Tdap, Varicella, Flu
Required Qualifications at this Level:Education/Training: Intern must be a university enrolled, rising sophomore, junior, or senior
Experience: Prior research experience is helpful, but not necessary
Skills: The ideal candidate will have:
§ Excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a team environment
§ Strong organizational and analytical skills
§ Demonstrate excellence in previous academic endeavors
