R&D Senior Controls Engineer

<h2>Job Description</h2> <p>ATS Scientific Products is seeking a Senior Controls/Automation Engineer to work within the R&amp;D team developing the next generation of machine control software for pharmaceutical filling machines and freeze dryers. Working with product owners the Senior Controls/Automation Engineer shall manage and deliver software and controls projects utilizing their own skills and those of the wider SP team, subject matter experts and supporting contractors.     </p> <p> </p> <p>This is a global role, based in our Mataró, Spain office, but also supporting operations and working with R&amp;D teams in the USA, therefore a degree of flexibility within working hours and regular, planned travel to USA are required.</p> <p> </p> <p>The role reports, to Technical Director and R&amp;D Controls Manager, Mataró. <br/>  </p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities: </p> <ul> <li>Develop, test, troubleshoot, modify, and commission Allen Bradley PLC (CompactLogix) control system applications using Studio 5000. </li> <li>Develop, test, troubleshoot, modify, and commission Allen Bradley motion and safety control system applications using Studio 5000. </li> <li>Develop and install control systems in a cost effective and timely manner in accordance with project schedules, budgets and equipment specifications.</li> <li>Perform value analysis and sustaining engineering tasks, and product improvement designs to enhance manufacturability, productivity, reliability, safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.</li> <li>Specify control system hardware.</li> <li>Produce GAMP documentation including, but not limited to, Functional Specifications (FS), Hardware Design Specifications (HDS), and Software Design Specifications (SDS) as required by project specifications.</li> <li>Read, understand, develop, and modify control system design documents including diagrams, drawings (P&amp;ID, control system schematics, wiring drawings, I/O lists, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings, etc.) and written design specifications (Functional Specifications, Users Manuals, Sequence of Operations, etc.).</li> <li>Report on and/or present progress and status of projects and assignments in various formats to internal and external audiences in English.</li> <li>Provide assistance to Technical Support and Service personnel.</li> <li>Travel to other SP facilities, vendors, or customer sites will be necessary. </li> </ul> <h2>Additional Information</h2> <p>Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills</p> <ul> <li>5 years minimum experience.</li> <li>Experienced and proficient with PLC and motion such as Logix 5000 or Twincat. Siemens TiA Portal is a plus.</li> <li>Experienced and proficient with SCADA software such as Aveva Wonderware, GE iFix, or FactoryTalk View is a plus.</li> <li>Experience with validation procedures and change-control practices relating to control system development and modification is a plus.</li> <li>Experience with controls validation and change-control procedures within an FDA and GMP regulated environment is a plus.</li> <li>Experience with a Quality Management System based on the ISO-9001:2008 standard is a plus.</li> <li>Experience with systems integration involving multiple vendors is a plus.</li> <li>Experience designing, troubleshooting IP networks is a plus.</li> <li>Experience using virtual environments such as VMWare or Hyper-V is a plus.</li> <li>English B2.
