SRB:

The State Reclamation and Mosquito Control Board oversees mosquito control in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts including 11 regional programs. It establishes administrative and technical policies, guidelines, and best management practices to ensure mosquito control programs are safe and effective.

Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Field Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent

DESCRIPTION  Supervise, direct and coordinate field personnel in implementing mosquito control activities including but not limited to water management, larviciding, and responding to citizen requests for service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

-          Assist in hiring and evaluation of field staff

-          Train and supervise field staff

-          Act as liaison with public works departments and other local officials

-          Assign field staff equipment, recommend and purchase new equipment and tools, within budget

-          Drive vehicle in safe manner

-          Responsible for making sure equipment and vehicle are in safe operating order.

-          Clear drainage ditch systems using shovel, rake, or other hand tools so that the water is free from debris.

-          Remove blockages from culverts.

-          Use sewer snake to unblock pipes.

-          Use brush cutter and/or chain saw to brush areas under surveillance for mosquito development.

-          Use hand operated or backpack sprayers to apply larvicides.

-          Practice safe work habits and use of tools.

-          Have detailed knowledge of mosquito source and problem areas in general within the Project, including keeping abreast with all newly constructed drainage systems in towns of Barnstable County.

-          Recognize mosquito adults and larvae

-          Continue education on mosquitoes and mosquito borne disease
