The Senior Manager, Supplier Material Verification leads, directs, and mentors a team of Supplier Material Verification Engineers supporting the sensors business.  This position manages all nonconforming material from receiving inspection through return to vendor and is responsible for the disposition of supplier material.  This position works to improve the disposition cycle time and provide corrective actions to improve the inspection process.  This position will engage with cross functional teams to execute purges, screenings, and return to vendor activities. This position is an onsite position based out of Andover, MA.

What You Will Do:

  • Management of the Andover receiving inspection and suspended material area nonconforming material.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Supplier Material Verification Engineers and the Suspended Material Area team.
  • Manage disposition of nonconforming supplier material to accurately measure supplier performance.
  • Support and coach the development and growth of the team.
  • Daily collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain and meet organizational goals and objectives. These groups include technical support, manufacturing/test/design engineering, maintenance, production control, finance, and the program management office.
  • Ensures the full compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • Workforce planning and forecasting
  • Employee hiring and training.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities using CORE.
  • Develop/implement corrective action plans to support inspection escapes across multiple inspection sites.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, to provide updates on supplier nonconforming material and contribute to strategic decision-making.

Qualifications You Must Have:  

  • Typically requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior engineering, experience in a quality, technical or manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience managing a small team of technical staff.
  • Experience identifying root cause and initiate / implementing effective short-term and long-term corrective actions.
  • Experience with commercial and/or aerospace / defense regulations and/or standards of a commercial equivalent with any of the following:  - AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, ISO-9001, AS9145.
  • Experience working with SAP and / or PRISM (Raytheon Proprietary) to generate daily and weekly metrics.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team with representatives from Supply Chain, Operations, Program Quality and Manufacturing.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Strong management skills including the ability to make decisions with minimal supervision, goal setting, delegation, coaching, and motivating.
  • Supervisory experience in the aerospace/defense industry and with represented employees
  • Knowledge of Supplier Quality and receiving inspection
  • Certification in Six Sigma, CORE, or American Society for Quality (ASQ)
  • Knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)
  • Experience with cables and wiring harnesses, electro-mechanical assemblies, machined components, and/or circuit card assemblies.
  • GD&T Knowledge, understanding, and practical application.
  • Practical knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action processes
  • Practical knowledge of First Article Inspection and AS9102 management
  • Knowledge of General Statistical Process Control
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with customers or partners (both internal and external to Raytheon), including experience in an international / global setting
