Position is for a Family Services Supervisor of Kinship Unit
General Statement of Job
Family Services Supervisor provides direct supervision for memberships of the Kinship Unit to include but not limited to Family Partnership Meeting Facilitators, Fatherhood Initiative, Case Support Staff and Administrative staff. The Family Services Manager is distinguished from the by the latter’s responsibilities for supervising Family Services Supervisors and managing the direct services program performance.
Special Duties & Responsibilities
*Kinship Supervisor is in direct contact and collaboration with Foster Care/Resource, CPS and In Home Units Supervisors and Staff
*Provides Guidance to staff, Case guidance, Community Resources, Ongoing supervision of daily tasks of Kinship Unit.
*Continuance in growth of Kinship and Fatherhood Initiative programs.
*Partners within Home and CPS Staff on case support cases and court referred cases.

- Demonstrated Ability to work collaboratively with multiple units.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement and support all new staff in developing exemplary casework and meet agency expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interact with clients, coworkers, community professionals, supervisors, and members of the general public, and all other groups involved in the activities of the Department. .
- Demonstrated commitment and contribution to a healthy and positive working environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree Social Services, Sociology, Human Services, Psychology or closely related field accompanied by a minimum of one (1) to two (2) years’ experience in a human service related area or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
Comprehensive knowledge of social work principles and practices; human behavior and motivational theory; laws, policies, and regulations relating to human services program areas; investigating and interviewing techniques, principles and processes for providing customer and personal services to include needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of satisfaction; principles, methods, and procedures needed to determine for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, treatments for behavior and affective disorders, for career counseling and guidance, and therapeutic treatment techniques.
Some Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles
Skills in operating a personal computer and the associated software; and the operation of a motor vehicle.
Must possess and maintain a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license.
Bilingual applicants encouraged.
Special Requirements
Applicants may be subject to a Criminal History Background search, Central Registry search, DMV/driving record check, and must be able to meet agency insurance policy standards. and/or pre-employment drug screen.
The investigation may include: fingerprint checks (State Police, FBI), local agency checks, employment verification and references, verification of education (relevant to employment), credit checks (relevant to employment) and other checks requested by the hiring authority.
All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory results of the required checks and screenings.
Employee must be willing to work in community emergency shelter in the event of a natural disaster or emergency.
This position is covered under Code of Virginia §63.2-1601.1 or §63.2-1720 requiring the finalist candidate to submit to fingerprinting and provide personal descriptive information for a criminal history record check through the Central Criminal Records Exchange and a search of the Central Registry.
