About the role

The primary focus of the RN Program Coordinator is to coordinate a high quality, safe, effective, and efficient program across all assigned areas and in conjunction with other efforts across the institution. The RN Program Coordinator partners with physicians, nurses, administrators and other support staff, to operationalize the program. The RN Program Coordinator provides consultation to various stakeholders and contributes to the establishment of policies, practices, protocols, and procedures in the Department in alignment with institutional practice at Mayo Clinic. Key components of the RN Program Coordinator role are to serve as a resource, consultant, and project manager for program-related activities. In conjunction with the members of the healthcare team, and other stakeholders, the coordinator is responsible for program planning, implementing and evaluation. In addition, this role will assist with required education and training and providing meaningful information for Departmental leadership for decision making. The RN Program Coordinator develops and maintains effective relationships with a variety of individuals throughout the institution and may have regular contact with persons outside Mayo Clinic as job duties require.

This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. 

  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing required. 
  • Graduation from an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) accredited nursing program is required.

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Three to five years of recent clinical nursing experience in critical care, emergency services, rapid response, or other acute care settings with frequent management of patients with sepsis and septic shock is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in sepsis program management, sepsis quality improvement initiatives, or coordination of sepsis-related clinical practice activities is preferred.
  • Experience leading or coordinating sepsis-related quality improvement, performance improvement, or clinical practice initiatives is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based sepsis care guidelines, clinical pathways, and regulatory/accreditation requirements related to sepsis performance measures is preferred.
  • Experience analyzing clinical quality data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and developing action plans to improve patient outcomes is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to educate, mentor, and influence clinical teams to achieve practice change and sustain quality outcomes is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing leaders, and operational stakeholders to advance organizational initiatives is preferred.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and change management skills is preferred.
  • Experience working in a team environment. 
  • Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. 
  • Available to work flexible hours to effectively support departmental and organizational requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.

 

Certification/Licensure

  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) competencies required upon hire. 
  • Positions that are not on campus may not require current Basic Life Support (BLS) competency as determined by the work area. 
  • Specialty certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN), Emergency Nursing (CEN), or related clinical specialty preferred.
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
