Job Purpose

Supervises workers who confirm and record the receipt of shipments, prepare items for shipping and load and unload trucks.  Also responsible for handling the inter-departmental transport of materials.  Has full responsibility for personnel actions and oversees most day to day operations of group.  Is responsible for the overall flow of the shipping dock to ensure a smooth operation for all product/materials shipped and received.  Has experience and responsibility to manage group in absence of Warehouse and Shipping Manager.

Job Responsibilities

• Directly supervise warehouse and shipping activities for business.
• Supervises all personnel in Shipping functions. Responsible for all training and discipline of direct reports.
• Expected to own the overall flow of the warehouse and shipping areas from a supervisor level. Understands cause and effect of actions taken.

• Ensures achievement of agreed upon on-time delivery performance of ASF and MPS through effective running of the warehouse and shipping departments.

• Develops and oversees implementation of new ideas or projects.

• Authorizes PTO and determines when overtime is needed.
• Ability to comfortably navigate through multiple ERP systems.
• Works to improve and then sustain inventory accuracy.
• Expected to have a good working relationship with the carriers and understand the various modes of transport.
• Expected to be a safety liason.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a fast paced warehouse/distribution environment.
• Hands-on experience in industrial warehousing, preferably within the coating or chemical industries.
• Ability to coordinate multiple activities and situations.
• Planning and scheduling experience.
• Forklift trainer. Must become certified as a trainer within 6 months of being in position.
• Emergency Response Team- Must become a member within 6 months of being in position.
