Job Summary
The Director, Product Management is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Landis+Gyr’s strategic planning, lifecycle management and business performance of their assigned portfolio of products. They have the mission to define and launch products into the market that fulfill customer requirements. This requires a deep understanding of the technical solutions and products, market dynamics and customers, understanding of the strategies that increase revenue and profitability of the overall solution. This position will ensure that projects align to the budget and the overall product strategies. The Director, Product Management will drive cross-departmental execution against business goals. This role will require close working collaboration with Project Management, Engineering, Deployment, and Sales and Marketing. The ideal candidate will understand electrical distribution, smart grid, advanced metering Infrastructure, electric metering, smart cities and internet of things (IoT) communications. This role will lead a team of experienced Product Managers and Product Analyst. Attributes of a successful Director, Product Management include entrepreneurship, functioning as a product evangelist and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the Americas region’s involvement in the corporate strategic product planning activities
- Engages with customers to understand their current and future needs and ability/willingness to pay to address them. Follows developments and trends in the market place and monitors competitive Intelligence. Fashions tactical product plans and multi-year roadmaps to keep Landis+Gyr at the forefront of the market
- Support annual Market Survey initiatives for the America’s Region
- Manage the creation and maintenance of the Landis+Gyr Investment Plan
- Provide key product inputs into the annual Mid-Term Business planning activities
- Lead efforts to develop and maintain competitive market data for all aspects of the Portfolio
- Investigate/recommend more efficient processes for to reduce project costs and durations and implement new processes to support the split of the product management strategy and operations functions.
- Provide daily support and guidance on use of New Product Introduction process, with a focus on practical and efficient use.
- Engage with finance for frequent reporting that provides product/solution with meaningful intelligence to manage and track projects
- Lead a team of Product Managers and Product Analyst to achieve portfolio business goals
- Coordinate prioritization including initial budgetary cycle and then ongoing prioritization needs.
- Identify areas for improvement in template and process, and lead necessary changes
- Supports and adheres to Company’s core values.
- Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
- Supports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.
- Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of Product Management, Product Development and Budgeting Processes
- Exceptional presentation skills
- Strong Financial background preferred
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Self-Starter, Ability to Work Independently or on a team
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate openly, honestly, and constructiv
