Job Summary

This position supports the primary field customer relations and communications resource for public interaction and outreach on AEP Transmission projects. Responsible for assisting in identifying, developing, and coordinating delivery of overall outreach strategies to support the goals, philosophies, policies, initiatives, and day-to-day activities of AEP Transmission and its affiliates, including joint ventures. Key member of project siting team who interfaces with or supports interaction with external audiences, including individual customers and local officials. Requirements include excellent written and public speaking skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong business knowledge. Able to meet with affected or potentially affected customers to surface issues, solve problems, and bring local knowledge and insight to the siting process.

Project Communication Specialist

What You’ll Do:

• Assist in defining activities, durations, work sequences, and relationship logic to develop the scope of work plan and develop milestones to represent key decisions and deliverables that take place during execution.
• Ensure all scope and deliverables are accounted for.
• Develop, maintain, and analyze scope of work project schedules using Primavera. 
• Organize and provide support during schedule review meetings with all stakeholders and incorporate appropriate details. Ensure clear minutes and action items, as required.
• Engage scope of work team and stakeholders to create schedules, assist in, and provide schedule analysis updates to project team, alerting them to schedule risks and issues that could delay milestones.
• Communicate schedule status to project stakeholders.
• Develop an understanding of the AEP project management organizational standards and assist in the management of projects to those standards.
• Adhere to the guidance and standards put forth by the AEP Project Management Governance Committee.

Technical Expertise:

• You must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and ability to develop complex spreadsheets.

Leadership and Guidance:

• You must be a team player with ability to work and collaborate well with others.
• Must be a self-motivated individual and able to work under general supervision, be independent, and competently perform current scheduling techniques and analyses on all aspects.

Planning and Organization:

• Demonstrate ability to manage time effectively and efficiently; show capacity for organizational and planning skills; as well as having an aptitude for accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to achieve goals.
• Some travel, including overnight, may be required. On rare occasions, temporary relocation might be required to complete work. 

Problem Solving and Initiative:

• Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of work projects of variable complexity.

Business Awareness:

• Safely and effectively perform light physical duties at various work sites including home and AEP locations in varying conditions. 
• Understand and support the policies, values, principles, structure and behavior of AEP.
