About the role

Principal Data Scientist–NIKE, Inc., Beaverton, OR. Designs, develops and programs methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze structured/unstructured, diverse "big data" sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for client services and product enhancement; build "products" for Analysis; interact with product and service teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments; develop and code software programs, algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources; identify meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources; interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers; implement and innovate on state-of-the art machine learning, especially ranking and deep learning; lead projects and project teams from problem formulation through delivery; drive advancement towards strategic goals; utilize the architecture of consumer facing machine learning and personalization systems; participate in the development and execution of an enterprise strategy. implement and innovate on state-of-the art machine learning, especially ranking, deep learning and recommendation systems; design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative data and machine learning solutions to accelerate our business; create experiments and prototype implementations of new learning algorithms and cutting-edge techniques; understand model development, model validation and model deployment for large-scale applications in an agile and elegantly orchestrated manner; lead projects and project teams from problem formulation through delivery, driving advancement towards strategic goals; understand of the architecture of consumer facing machine learning and personalization systems; and participate in the development and execution of an enterprise strategy. Telecommuting is available from anywhere in the U.S., except from AK, AL, AR, DE, HI, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MT, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, RI, SD, VT, WV, and WY.

Employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or Applied Math and 2 years of experience in the job offered or a computer related occupation.

Experience must include:

  • AWS and Sagemaker;

  • Python and deep learning in libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch;

  • Data structures, algorithms, and distributed computing, both for data and optimization;

  • Big data platform and its applications, such as Hadoop, Pig, Hive, and Spark;

  • Machine learning, such as Mathematics, Statistics, Pattern Recognition, and Operation Research;

  • Data querying languages including SQL;

  • Statistical/mathematical software such as R, SAS, and Matlab;

  • Data visualization including AWS QuickSight, Tableau, and R Shiny;

  • GitHub and GitLab;

  • MLOps engineering best practices.
