Our HazardHub team here at Guidewire is responsible for building HazardHub data products that help insurance carriers, MGAs, and brokers make more informed decisions. You will be working alongside a team of data scientists, geospatial analysts, and industry experts to provide meaningful insights to HazardHub prospects and clients.

Job Description

What will I be doing?

Guidewire is offering a 3-month internship in the HazardHub team. The internship is designed to give an opportunity to work in a real-world business environment and to take responsibility for specific data projects that have the potential to provide real value for risk analytics to our customers. 

Data is just data until it’s brought to life with a story, meaningful visualizations and clear, effective communication. Reporting to our Industry Advisory team, you will gain great experience from experienced veterans in the P&C space.  You will analyze insurance portfolios to uncover trends and insights, particularly in property insurance. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, your work will help bring clarity and drive customer confidence in our risk solutions. 

  • Clean, transform, and normalize data

  • Apply analytical acumen in an insurance context

  • Work with high attention to detail and a curious mindset

You will be mentored by experienced data scientists and data engineers, and exposed to geospatial data, product positioning, actuarial techniques, and HazardHub workflows. The tools to accomplish the task are largely Python, SQL, or Excel. You will get exposure to working in AWS. 

Intern Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing (or recently completed) bachelor's or master’s studies in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or or related field.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of:

  • Python coding, in particular data manipulation

  • Insurance risk analytics

  • Clear communication and organization skills

  • Ability to work independently on a project and as part of a team.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $50,000 - $96,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
