PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible to ensure policies and procedures are followed throughout the plant. Supervises all maintenance technicians on the production floor with responsibility and demonstration of model behavior for safety, quality, productivity, continuous improvement, and employee relations. Exhibit superior safety practices every day evidenced by outstanding housekeeping and keeping current on all PM’s at all times. Extend treatment to all other employees of the Company as individuals with the courtesy and dignity shown to customers. Exercise maximum care to protect the environment by fostering and supporting responsible operating procedures. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for all parts being built to the manufacturing plan and customer specifications 

· Ensure any accident or near miss report investigation are accurately completed 

· Monitor scheduled work to meet customer requirements and ensure labor is managed efficiently and effectively to keep work cell working efficiently. 

· Responsible for ensuring production records (scrap, rate board documentation) are maintained daily 

· Responsible for attendance, overtime, and overtime equalization daily 

· Arrange, conduct and or oversee team meetings to ensure communication of important information, including shift huddles 

· Supports an attitude of team work and continuous improvement 

· Understands the importance of quality and assists in the achievement and maintenance of ISO 14001 certifications 

· May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description 

· Direct, plan, and coordinate maintenance operations over all shifts to minimize equipment downtime and maximize production. 

· Develop and maintain an effective machinery maintenance program, including predictive and preventive maintenance. 

· Ensure quality of repairs, scheduling of repair work, diagnosis of equipment problems, and adequate supplies of materials and/or parts required to complete repairs. 

· Work closely with production control and manufacturing departments to schedule maintenance and/or repairs at appropriate times. 

· Plan, organize, and assign work to maintenance employees to apply skill and experience to the best advantage which ensures efficient use of labor hours, materials, and equipment consistent with production and profit requirements. 

· Maintain close observation over maintenance operations, providing guidance concerning proper maintenance methods. 

· Select and train maintenance employees to ensure a sufficient work force to meet short and long-term objectives. 

· Evaluate work performance and counsel and coach employees to maintain efficient work performance. 

· Oversee the development and operation of the maintenance data systems, addressing delay reporting, inventory control, equipment history, and maintenance cost tracking. 

· Develop short and long-term plans relating to operating costs, labor requirements, and equipment replacement, overhaul, and shutdowns. 

· Assist in preparing annual budget for all maintenance operations and administer and control budget during the business year. 

· Maintain open communications with employees and work with employees to mutually resolve problems to enhance morale and promote a union-free environment. 

· Maintain conformance with Company policies, work rules, and regulations, coaching employees and/or initiating disciplinary actions, as required. 

· Enforce the proper use of safety equipment and maintain departmental housekeeping to produce a safe work environment.

Requirements

  

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 18 to 24 months of process and project engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

· Has advanced technical skills in hydraulic, compressed air, mechanical and electrical fields (e.g. PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering, etc.) and is able to lead resource planning efforts in a large manufacturing environment. 

· Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, etc. 

· Able to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level process issues. PC literate with knowledge of Word and Excel. 

· Good planning and priority setting skills. 

· Strong communication skills, verbal and written. 

· Strong leadership skills (conflict resolution, facilitation, change management skills, decision making, empowerment and delegation). Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary.
