Job Description:
This position is responsible for billing, follow-up, and resolving issues that delay or prevent payment of the patient's account within Intermountain's policies and procedures.ScopeAs a Patient Access Specialist you need to know how to:
Maintain compliance with
hospital and government regulations applicable to the Admissions settings- Answer telephone in a professional and courteous manner, record messages and communicate to appropriate medical staff- Provide and obtain signatures on required forms and consents- Obtain, verify, and enter complete and accurate demographic information on all accounts- Verify insurance benefits and obtain authorizations
for all plans associated with patient
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required- Basic understanding of medical terminology, required- Excellent customer service and computer skills, required- Fluency in English; written and oral communication, required- At least one (1) year of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a healthcare setting, strongly preferred- Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors, strongly preferred- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, preferred
Physical Requirements:
Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.- and -Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.- and -See and read computer monitors and documents.- and -Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.- and -May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.Location:
