Description
The District Executive Director supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. They will oversee the total operation of the YMCA, including membership, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies.
The YMCA is seeking a cause-driven, innovative leader to guide a diverse staff and volunteer team of the Northwest District YMCA, which consists of the Bethany YMCA and the Rockwell Plaza YMCA, serving their immediate community and surrounding communities. The Bethany YMCA is a 21,000 square foot facility which includes a gymnasium, 86,000-gallon pool, fitness center with cardio and strength, child watch, and two group exercise studios. The Rockwell Plaza YMCA is a 46,500 square foot facility, which includes a gymnasium, a 65,000-gallon pool, a group exercise studio, fitness center with cardio and strength, and child watch. Combined the Northwest YMCA operates a city pool during the summer months. The Northwest District has a combined annual operating budget of over $3.1 million and a combined membership count of approximately 4,100 units. Core programs include youth sports, swim lessons, school age childcare, and summer day camp.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates the development of the branch council and committees.
- Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch and/or district.
- Directs the financial development activities of the branch and/or district.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
- Oversees the hiring, training, development, and supervision of staff.
- Develops, manages, and monitors the branch and/or district operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets.
- Directs branch and/or district strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch and/or district.
- Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models’ relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
- Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Directs branch and/or district marketing and communication efforts in collaboration and approval of AO VP of Communication to effectively communicate benefit to
the community. - Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
