Position Summary
CVS Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as Lead Director of IT Capacity Planning, part of the Infrastructure Operations & Service Delivery organization. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal utilization of our IT resources and infrastructure to meet both current and future business demands. You will be responsible for developing, implementing and driving capacity planning strategies, monitoring resource utilization, and collaborating with various teams to ensure the seamless functioning of IT services. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills. In addition to these responsibilities, you will also be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, and leveraging deep analytic and business intelligence skills to extract insights from complex data sets. In addition, you will lead Cloud Capacity Planning initiatives to optimize our cloud resources on platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
Key Responsibilities:
Capacity Planning:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive capacity planning strategy for IT resources, including servers, storage, network bandwidth, and cloud infrastructure on platforms like Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
- Analyze historical and projected usage patterns to identify potential capacity constraints.
Resource Monitoring:
- Implement and manage monitoring tools to continuously assess the performance and capacity of IT systems and cloud resources.
- Proactively identify and address resource bottlenecks and performance degradation issues.
Cloud Capacity Planning:
- Collaborate with cloud architects and teams to optimize resource allocation, scaling, and cost management in cloud environments (Azure and Google Cloud).
- Recommend cloud service configurations and adjustments based on capacity and performance metrics.
Forecasting:
- Collaborate with various departments to gather data on upcoming projects, initiatives, and changes in business needs.
- Use data analysis and modeling to forecast future capacity requirements for both on-premises and cloud resources.
Infrastructure Optimization:
- Work closely with technology teams to optimize resource allocation and utilization in both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Recommend hardware and software upgrades or replacements based on capacity and performance metrics.
Reporting and Data Analysis:
- Design, develop, and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, and other tools to support capacity planning and operational needs.
- Apply deep analytical and business intelligence skills to extract meaningful insights from large and complex data sets.
- Build various data visualizations to communicate business trends, patterns, and outliers effectively.
Liaison and Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between the business and technical teams, facilitating the delivery of actionable insights into current business performance.
- Conduct ad hoc investigations to support future improvements or innovations, involving data gathering, manipulation, problem-solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.
Best Practices:
- Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis, including data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as an IT Capacity Manager or in a similar capacity planning role.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including servers, storage, network devices, and cloud services (Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud).
- Proficiency in capacity planning tools and performance monitoring solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
