About This PositionThe Performance Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operational performance of Intersect Power assets located within the CAISO market. This role involves analyzing performance data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing solutions to maximize asset availability, reliability, and profitability. The role requires coordination between internal stakeholders, such as Site Operations, Compliance, Trading and Asset Management, as well as external O&M providers.
Overview of DepartmentThe current operations team consists of operations, asset management, and compliance professionals with over 4GW of operational experience. The operations team works closely with the Development and Construction teams to bring Intersect Power’s pipeline from concept to operations remaining involved throughout the project lifecycle. The Intersect Power operations team is expanding to support the growing fleet moving into operations over in the near term.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead the Performance Engineering team dedicated to CAISO assets, providing mentorship and career development opportunities for their advancement.
- Monitor and analyze real-time and historical performance data for Solar and BESS assets to identify underperforming assets and develop actionable remediation plans.
- Create and utilize existing python scripts analyzing PV and BESS performance.
- Establish best practices for performance monitoring and reporting.
- Provide periodic updates to internal stakeholders such as Operations, Asset Management, Trading and Executives about asset performance, status of issues and estimated impact to projects.
- Track high priority issues to completion, troubleshooting issues and assertively pushing to get responses.
- Lead the development of Root Cause Analysis, collaborating with site team and technical experts to implement corrective actions.
- Interface with O&M control room and site personnel to support day to day site operations
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (electrical/mechanical engineering, computer science or related field).
- 4+ years as an operating performance engineer or development engineer (experience working at or with O&M providers is a bonus).
- Proven track record of leading teams and managing complex projects.
- Proficiency with performance modeling tools: PVsyst and Plant Predict in particular
- Working knowledge of python and ability to perform analysis with minimal guidance
- Intimate knowledge of the energy and renewable energy market, and the ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and industry trends
- Commercial mindset, strong prioritization, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams and schematics
- Technical knowledge of general plant and system processes, electrical and SCADA systems
- Technical knowledge in analyzing equipment performance and identifying performance issues using software tools
- Experience with PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC MV systems, network communications
