Role Summary

As the Head of AI Strategy, Governance & Adoption, you assume a critical executive leadership role, accountable for the performance and results of a pivotal division within the enterprise AI function. This position requires providing leadership and direction through multiple levels of leaders to embed Artificial Intelligence into the core organizational fabric. Reporting directly to the Chief AI Officer, you will serve as the chief strategist, regulatory expert, and transformation leader for AI across the entire enterprise.

Your mandate is to influence and shape the Function's strategy by establishing a robust, globally compliant AI Governance framework that actively manages risk (e.g., EU AI Act). Concurrently, you will develop and execute the long-term operational strategy to drive large-scale, measurable AI adoption. This role ensures Roche's AI investment translates into industry-shaping innovation and responsible, habitual use of AI tools across all global departments, fundamentally accelerating the organization's mission.

The Opportunity:

The Head of AI Strategy, Governance & Transformation will execute the sub-function's organizational plans and direct the development of innovative solutions, applying both in-depth functional knowledge and business expertise:

I. Enterprise AI Strategy & Governance

• Global Governance Framework: Develop and implement a comprehensive AI governance model that is compliant with evolving global regulations (including the EU AI Act and similar standards) and aligns directly with corporate strategic objectives.

• Strategic Risk Management: Define and operationalize AI guardrails and controls to minimize ethical and operational risk. Collaborate closely with internal Strategy, Portfolio & Governance, and Risk teams to embed these principles across the organization.

• Strategic Alignment and Decision Science: Establish the core decision-making framework for the selection, scaling, and implementation of all AI tools, ensuring choices are transparent, justifiable, and consistent across the enterprise.

• External Leadership: Serve as the key external liaison, representing the organization’s AI strategy and governance practices to regulatory bodies, government agencies, and influential industry forums.

II. Global AI Adoption & Value Realization

• Adoption Strategy & Value Realization: Design and lead the implementation of a comprehensive AI roadmap aligned with the organization’s three-part strategy: Empowering employees, reshaping processes to realize value at scale, and driving disruptive innovation.

• Organizational Change Mastery (OCM): Lead the OCM function to design and execute a global change plan that ensures a seamless transition and habitual adoption of AI tools and methodologies across all functions.

• Customer Success & Enablement: Establish and lead a Customer Success function dedicated to providing hands-on support, gathering user feedback, and acting as the voice of the customer for internal AI platforms and solutions.

• Training and Proficiency: Oversee the design and delivery of targeted training programs and learning resources to build AI literacy and proficiency across the company, ensuring all training for regulated systems adheres to GxP compliance.

• Metrics and Accountability: Define, track, and report on key adoption metrics and KPIs. Provide the organization with clear, data-driven insights into user engagement, satisfaction, and the quantifiable business value generated by AI initiatives.
