About the role

Position Purpose:

The Equity and Derivatives Trader will work within T. Rowe Price Investment Management (TRPIM) Equity Trading with an array of responsibilities. The trader will partner with current primary traders to support the execution of single stock equity derivatives, high and low touch equity trades, intraday blocks, and public equity capital market transactions. The trader will be responsible for seeking best execution, monitoring market activity, disseminating key information, and general involvement in TRPIM’s investment process.

This individual must have a strong understanding of the equity and derivatives markets and keep abreast of evolving market trends. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills are paramount to success in this role. Being able to build, maintain and leverage relationships both externally and internally is essential. 

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Trade equity and single stock derivative securities.
  • Maximize best execution practices in both high and low touch trading across multiple trading platforms / venues.
  • Assist the Equity Capital Markets (ECM) team with daily responsibilities as needed.
  • Manage a sector responsibility. Gather and analyze sector information and communicate relevant information to traders, analysts, and portfolio managers.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of market structure and regulatory issues in markets.
  • Build and maintain strong internal relationships with portfolio managers, analysts, and trading team colleagues.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage productive external relationships with a broad set of broker dealers and buy-side counterparts.
  • Leverage technology to promote workflow efficiency and partner with Global Technology to identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct trading activities in compliance with all applicable guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree.
  • 6+ years of industry experience.
  • 3+ years of trading experience; preferably on the buy-side.
  • Derivatives trading background or experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task with precision.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; sound judgement with high integrity.
  • Interest in technology and promoting solution to improve trading efficiency.
  • Interest in continuing education and self-improvement.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Capacity / desire to work extended ECM hours beyond the standard trading day.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or quantitative major.
  • MBA, MA or CFA (or in progress).
  • T. Rowe Price institutional knowledge.

FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for remote work up to one day a week: 4 days in the office/1 day remote.
