As a Merchant Services Consultant you will develop new merchant services accounts through relationships with Branches, Business Banking, Business Client Management, Treasury Management and Commercial Banking . Drive conversion of referrals to active accounts by supporting partner sales efforts and by directly contacting merchant prospects. Provide day-to-day support of the Bank's Merchant Services business.

As a Merchant Services Consultant you will develop new merchant services accounts through relationships with Branches, Business Banking, Business Client Management, Treasury Management and Commercial Banking . Drive conversion of referrals to active accounts by supporting partner sales efforts and by directly contacting merchant prospects. Provide day-to-day support of the Bank's Merchant Services business.
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Responsible for following up on referrals provided by Branches, Business Banking, Business Client Management, Treasury Management, and Commercial Banking. Sell the Bank’s Merchant Services program and accurately setup new merchants.
- Develop and maintain relationship with existing merchants, branch staff, and other bank partners. Provide branch support by explaining program details, providing technical assistance and answering questions.
- Prepare pricing comparisons for potential merchants and existing merchants with pricing concerns.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving a variety of merchant services issues.
- Responsible for identifying risk levels of potential merchants and finding for ways to support approval of higher risk merchants.
- Responsible for complying with policies, procedures, security requirements, and government regulations. Become a subject matter expert in PCI Compliance.
Education & Certifications
- H.S. Diploma: required (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
Experience
- 2 or more years of experience with merchant services and 2 years of sales experience required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Possess an understanding and ability to sell merchant services, consumer and commercial credit cards, or financial services.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication, sales, business development, organization, time management, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to develop and advance new business via phone/email and the ability to prospect lead lists for new business.
- Proficient in MS Office products, including Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations relating to merchant services.
Compensation & Benefits
- Targeted starting compensation range is based on location and experience: $19.60 - $25.82 hourly
- Incentive and commission compensation may be awarded for eligible roles
