About the Role

The Early Childhood Assistant is responsible:

  • To work as team member to provide high quality care to meet the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of individuals and groups of children.

  • To contribute to planning, implementation, and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs for individuals and groups of children in conjunction with other staff.

  • To meet a high-quality standard of care in line with the principles of the Children’s Services Act 1996, Children’s Services regulations 2009, The National Quality framework (NQF), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Victorian Early Years Learning and Development (VELYLD) and the Centre’s philosophy and mission statement.

  • To build and maintain close relationships with parents of the children in the centre, through constant communication, to meet the needs of individual families.

To be considered for the casual pool, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • A current Level II First Aid Certificate

  • Certificate 3 in Children Services and/or Level 4 Diploma of Children's Services (or equivalent)

  • Excellent knowledge of the Children’s Services Act 1996, Children’s Services regulations 2009, The National Quality framework (NQF), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Victorian Early Years Learning and Development (VELYLD) and the Centre’s philosophy and mission statement.

  • A thorough knowledge of children’s development and ability to contribute to observation, planning, implementation, and evaluation of developmentally appropriate children’s programs.

  • Flexibility, both within the room and according to the needs of the Centre as a whole.

  • Well-developed Interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to co-operatively contribute to and support a team environment.

  • Ability to work co-operatively and respect families from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds.

  • Willingness to participate in in-service programs, staff development programs and staff meeting

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.

The Operations Portfolio enables an integrated, enterprise-wide delivery for best practice student and staff experiences. The Portfolio incorporates the following business units: Communications, Enterprise Projects & Business Performance, Global Marketing & Student Recruitment, Human Resources, Information and Technology Services (ITS), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Procurement and Property Services Group (PSG).
