Responsibilities:
- Create detailed engineering designs using 3D modeling software for mechanical parts and assemblies
- Responsible for producing technical drawings, and models that provide product definition and meet internal SNC standards
- Manage technical data packages and releases through PLM tools
- Participate in and lead rapid prototyping efforts with wide ranging levels of complexity finding solutions to open ended and ambiguous problems
- Learn and become proficient with CAM programming and CNC operation
- Leverage 3D printing capabilities utilizing in house FDM and MJF printing technologies
- Receive technical guidance and mentorship from senior engineers and team members.
- Collaborate on a cross-functional team with fellow mechanical engineers, systems engineers, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers and program managers throughout the lifecycle of new product development
Must-haves:
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college or technical school, with at least 6 months until graduation after end of internship
- Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
- Strong organization skills and work ethic; detail oriented
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and typically 0-2 or more years of relevant experience
- Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
- Familiarity with working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
- The ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance.
Preferred:
- Proficiency with Solidworks or other 3D Modeling software.
- Familiarity with applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
- Understanding of Engineering Simulation such as Finite Element structural Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis
- Experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
- Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes
