About the Team
The Industry Strategy & Planning team is responsible for developing data-driven strategies to increase Workday’s growth, value, and profitability across key industry verticals. From industry analysis and business plan development to Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy and execution, the team is responsible for the end-to-end process to ensure alignment across internal partners. This position is key a partner to the broader GTM team, including Sales, Marketing, Solution Consulting, Value Management, Partners, Industry Product Strategy, and more.About the Role
The Industry Strategy & Planning Director is responsible for delivering a streamlined and scalable approach to GTM strategy and execution across multiple industries (Manufacturing and Retail & Hospitality). Using analysis from internal and external data sources to guide decisions, they will build industry-specific business plans, partner with cross-functional collaborators to drive GTM activities in alignment with industry trends and requirements, and measure program success. By instilling discipline and rigor into every step of the sales process, win rates will increase, pipeline will grow, client outcomes will improve, and our business will be more predictable. This role is expected to challenge the status quo and lead matrixed teams to operate more efficiently and cohesively.
A Day in The Life Typically Includes:
Compiling and analyzing data and macro trends to find opportunities and define market priorities within a specific industry.
Developing a comprehensive business plan to define the short- and long-term focus areas for the industry.
Socializing industry focus areas with cross-functional GTM team members from Sales, Marketing, Solution Consulting, Value Management, Partners, Industry Product Strategy, and more to ensure a cohesive message and approach.
Building and implementing GTM strategies and programs to drive revenue, particularly as it relates to Workday’s Financials solution.
Tracking and measuring the success of business strategies outlined in business plans related to sales growth, profitability, and customer attrition.
Maintaining high acuity related to business concepts, processes, and efficiency factors to improve the buyer experience and drive revenue, including strong knowledge of SaaS sales cycles.
Working cross-functionally to develop and implement GTM strategies for customers including net new prospects, with unique value propositions by customer segment.
About You
Basic Qualifications
4+ years of demonstrated ability in driving go-to-market strategy and execution for a SaaS organization
5+ year of demonstrated ability in Sales Strategy, Pre-Sales, Go-to-market strategy, Partnerships & Alliances or Sales Data Analysis
Experience working cross functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product, etc.
Other Qualifications
Proven track record of working well a multifaceted, fast-paced, matrixed environment and demonstrated initiative in taking ownership for all assigned responsibilities, deliverables and results.
Ability to establish strong relationships and a willingness to collaborate across teams.
Possess a bold mentality: Comfort with ambiguity with the ability to tackle new challenges and responsibilities and deliver against your own internal clock
Experience in enterprise software development and/or application consulting in the enterprise software business.
Superior public speaking, presentation, and written communication directed at a technical and business audience at all levels of an organization
