Overview

The General Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, professional and financially viable operation of Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium and Liberty Park.  The stadium is a 55k seat stadium, and Liberty Park is approx. 150 acre fairgrounds, multi use and privately developed campus that together host well over 300 events per year including University of Memphis football, the Southern Heritage Classic, AutoZone Liberty Bowl Game, the United Football League (UFL) and a variety of festivals, sporting events, music, arts and private events. In addition to managing the day to day business operations, the General Manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining client and other key stakeholder relationships. Responsible for overall management, promotion, booking and operation of the facility, including construction, purchasing, policy administration, event booking, marketing, finance, food and beverage, box office, advertising, security, production, maintenance, and related operations for the Stadium and surrounding property. This position is responsible for the development, coordination and management of all aspects and strategies for the Stadium and Liberty Park events and revenue streams.

 

This role will pay a salary of $140,000 to $170,000.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange for and otherwise book events at the SBLS and Liberty Park, develop and maintain relationships with reputable promoters, local/regional event organizers, agents and talent affiliates to attract concerts, shows, entertainment events, sporting events, festivals, private events, etc.
  • Administration of specific plans and programs prescribed by corporate directives, to include: HR, Sales and Marketing, quality assurance, energy efficiency, safety/emergency procedures, crowd control and crisis management practices, or other areas as needed.
  • Generate for client/corporate in a timely manner financial and other reports detailing the venue activities.
  • Prepare a proposed annual Operating Budget and submit such proposed budget to client/corporate.
  • Oversee day to day operation, ensuring technical and staff resource needs for all events, oversees plans for allocating those resources, and successfully manages their efficient implementation.
  • Ensure all agreements made related to the Stadium and Liberty Park are in compliance with OVG’s management agreement, state and federal law.
  • Provide final approval for all contracts and agreement.
  • Attend conferences and trade association meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college or university in Business/Hospitality Management or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years management experience in a Stadium/Fairgrounds, Arena, Convention Center or other similar public assembly facility
  • The ability to research, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including the City of Memphis, University of Memphis, Autozone Liberty Bowl Game, Southern Heritage Classic, UFL as well as local, regional and national promoters, event organizers and sponsors.
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of event solicitation and presentation, public relations, advertising and media relations and event planning, facility operations, budget preparation and personnel management
  • Ability to apply conflict resolution and problem-solving skills in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to express ideas clearly through both oral and written communication
  • Superior Sales and Marketing skills
