Altruist is in the midst of an exceptional growth phase and we’re excited to hire Software Engineering Interns for Summer 2026 to join our growing engineering teams. As a summer intern, you'll participate in our 10-week program at our San Francisco office, where you'll work on a mix of sprint tasks with your team and a dedicated project. This experience will allow you to write high-quality, high-performance code, evaluate trade-offs, refine solutions, and address scope and scalability challenges. Whether you're supporting advisors, their clients, or internal developers, your contributions will make a meaningful impact and help shape the Altruist product.

Your impact

  • Participate in the entire lifecycle of large-scale, user-facing applications, from design and development to testing and deployment.
  • Collaborate within a cross-functional product team, including engineering, product management, design, and QA members.
  • Write, test, instrument, and deploy high-quality code with thorough test coverage, using modern frameworks and abstractions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business, industry, codebase, and technical systems.
  • Contribute to the innovation and continuous improvement of Altruist’s platform.
  • Learn key engineering architecture principles that support the team’s production features.
  • Document your experiences and insights throughout the internship.

What you’ll learn

  • Hands-on experience working on real projects that will be used by customers.
  • Mentorship and guidance from experienced product designers and cross-functional team members.
  • Opportunities to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • A supportive and inclusive work culture.

What you bring

  • Experience - Must have completed at least 1 previous Software Engineering Internship, preferably in the startup and/or FinTech space.
  • Education - B.S./B.A. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field, graduating in 2027 or 2028.
  • Technical aptitude - You’re technologically savvy and can easily get up to speed on modern tech stacks (i.e. React Native, GraphQL, Git, AWS, New Relic/Data Dog).
  • Ownership - The pride you put into every aspect of your work is unparalleled and undeniable.
  • Superb communication - Intentional dialogue is a superpower. You listen as well as you share your perspective with others.
  • Resilience - We’re inspired by your unwavering determination to achieve success, no matter the adversity you face along way.
  • Assurance - Your confidence is brilliant, yet ego-less. You possess a strong knowledge base, the ability to discover the unknown, and are open to differing perspectives.
  • Creative problem solving - Identifying the problem is simply not enough. You’re instinctually creative with your approach in finding solutions to roadblocks.
