Overview
The Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at Utah State University seeks applicants for a Staff Assistant II position. The successful applicant for this position will perform a variety of administrative support and/or secretarial duties.
Responsibilities
- Performs office duties, including answering phones, directing calls to appropriate parties, data entry, filing, appointment scheduling, and other general duties as assigned.
- Provides administrative support, including scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings/conferences, and maintaining/ordering office supplies. This includes assisting with the Departmental seminar and Hansen Life Sciences Retreat.
- Greets and directs visitors.
- Sorts, screens, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
- Composes and word-processes various standard documents, correspondence and reports.
- Contributes to marketing documents and annual department newsletter
- Updates and creates web content
- Provides non-business-related support for departmental programs and projects, including providing support for the summer internship program, managing facilities requests for buildings, and providing support for department sponsored functions.
- Conducts research, compiles data, and prepares papers for consideration and presentation by executives, committees, and directors.
- Arranges maintenance of office equipment.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of experience in an office setting or an associate degree/vocational training is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skilled with computers and related software.
- Skilled with Canva, Design, and Illustrator preferred.
- Skilled with basic office equipment, including printers, copiers, and telephone systems.
- Good organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential business data and personal information.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills.

Advertised Salary
$35,000, plus excellent benefitsADA
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
