Job Description:

Join the team at Cornhusker State Industries (CSI)! CSI is a self-supporting program of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS), providing workforce training to approximately 450 incarcerated men and women.

CSI is searching for a motivated leader to engage in building opportunities within our diverse production environment. The successful candidate will manage manufacturing and/or service business units directing the work of civilian staff and incarcerated workers. Must be customer-focused and provide effective communication to all internal and external stakeholders. Will participate in new business development as well as operational and strategic planning. Oversees business unit performance, staff development and provides project management.

Duties

• Provides training, direction and coaching to direct reports.
• Oversees training and certification programs for production workers.
• Enforces quality, safety and security standards.
• Provides disposition for non-conforming goods.
• Monitors business unit financial performance.
• Provides input on new product designs and new business units.
• Schedules production to meet sales order demand and warehouse inventory levels.
• Reviews new sales projects.
• Provides manufacturing status updates.
• Participates in organizational strategic planning. 
• Assigns coverage for staff absences.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering or related area plus four years manufacturing experience; OR Associate's degree plus six years manufacturing experience; OR high school degree or equivalent plus eight years manufacturing experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Proven management and work experience in any combination of the following disciplines: wood furniture, metal fabrication, printing, upholstery, garment manufacturing, quality assurance, inventory control, production scheduling, CAD or CNC. Proficient in Microsoft Office. ERP system experience.

Other: Occasional travel is required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
