Technical Accounting & Reporting Manager

About the role

As Manager of Technical Accounting & Reporting, you will be responsible for the preparation & review of internal and external financial statements and technical accounting. This includes leading the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting process for multiple reporting levels, enhancing the accuracy and timeliness of the company's reporting function and ensuring compliance with US GAAP. This is a critical role and function with high visibility within the company and the executive management team.

You will oversee the development and implementation of new accounting standards, application of technical accounting and internal and external reporting policies. You will perform technical research, composing supporting memos and communicate findings to corporate and key stakeholders. You will review financial information, transactions, reports, balance sheet, profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports to verify accuracy and compliance, and support the development and implementation of accounting system controls. You will also be responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting policies, optimization of key financial metrics and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field of study
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
  • Public accounting and other related experience, Big 4 firm experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of financial accounting regulations; GAAP; and financial statement analysis, preparation and reporting
  • Ability to identify, research, leverage resources and document conclusions for technical accounting resolution
  • Mastery of the ability to manage complex situations, delegate authority, lead and inspire your team, drive innovative thinking, instill collaboration, drive for success, challenge status quo, and demonstrate ability to adapt to dynamic situations
  • Proven experience and skills in team building, time management, conflict resolution, communication, briefing, presentation, strategic thinking, and literacy in the accounting disciplines
  • Progressive Microsoft Excel data analysis experience including Pivot table, index match, etc
  • Proficiency with automated accounting systems
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express concepts in verbal and written forms
  • Ability to navigate change and uncertainty, make defensible decisions in ambiguity and own those decisions
  • Ability to draft technical accounting memos
  • Support external and internal audits
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Typically 12-15 years of relevant experience
  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration
  • SEC Reporting experience
  • Aerospace & Defense industry and Government Contracting experience
  • Demonstrated passion for ideation, intellectual curiosity, and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose
  • Proven long-term and strategic perspective that extends beyond the immediate initiatives; visualizes and articulates a clear direction
  • Deltek (Cost Point) accounting system, Blackline and Workiva experience
  • Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) compliance
  • Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
