Job Description: The Patient Transportation Group Lead is responsible for assisting, directing, and coordinating transportation services across patient care and ancillary support areas. This role serves as a working lead, actively participating in daily operations while overseeing the performance of team members. This Team Member needs to be a self-motivated leader that is able to direct and coordinate activities of other Transportation Services personnel within patient care and ancillary support areas of the hospital and report any problems to the appropriate personnel. Provide training and operational orientation for all new staff members. Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

 

  • Direct daily functions of the Patient Transportation Department.
  • Coordinate and monitor transportation activities to ensure timely and safe patient movement.
  • Serve as a point of contact for issue resolution, reporting concerns to appropriate personnel and following up to ensure resolution.
  • Provide leadership and support to transportation staff, including training, guidance, and performance monitoring.
  • Fill in for transportation roles as needed to maintain service continuity.
  • Promote a culture of safety, service excellence, teamwork, and service recovery within the department.
  • Dispatch and coordinate patient transportation services, maintaining clear communication with patient care providers and the transportation team.
  • Efficiently manipulate and coordinate the Transport Tracking and paging system.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of all intricate aspects of Patient Transportation, including hospital transportation systems and protocols.
  • Conduct daily audits to assess technical performance, safety compliance, service quality, and team productivity.
  • Train team members on scripted communication techniques to assist patients, visitors, and staff in designated areas.
  • Perform supervisory duties in the absence of the Patient Transportation Supervisor.
  • Monitor team productivity and patient response times to ensure service efficiency.
