Job Description

Come join Verisk's corporate Benefits team! This Senior Benefits Specialist will play a key role in leading the day to day administration of employee benefit programs, with a focus on retirement, including supporting our retiree population. The role reports into our Jersey City, NJ office, offering a hybrid work environment with in-office work 2-3 days/week. 

  • Act as COE and manage day to day administration and employee resolution issues to the 401(k) plan, executive top hat plan, employee stock purchase plan (US and Singapore), pension and retiree administration.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance as it relates to the above plans.
  • Partner with HRBPs and HR staff of BUs for employee escalations on all employee benefits; update leadership where necessary.
  • Manage retiree death benefit counseling and process; manages active employee death benefit counseling and process.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration, analytics, and reporting of benefits as well as participating subsidiary companies.
  • Ensure all plans meet Federal and State regulations, and are utilized effectively by employees, make recommendations where appropriate for plan enhancements and cost savings
  • Manage compliance tasks including 5500 audit, SAR mailings, RDS coordination, partner with consultants on HIPAA training, and developing a wrap document for plans, SPD and plan document coordination for updates and posting.  Ensures timely submissions of all benefit-related filings.
  • Manage all retirement plan audits.
  • Manage Service Now escalations—providing tier 2 & 3 level support.
  • Manage retirement plan vendors with ongoing meetings, communication, process improvements, SLAs.
  • Ensure proper documentation and follow through are completed in a timely manner with solid communication of results to both employees and managers.
  • Manage process for newly benefits eligible employees with benefits orientation delivery. Provide access to training and 1:1 sessions; periodic ad hoc communications jointly with 401(k) recordkeeper and stock plan administrator.
  • Assist with delivery of communication strategy to inform employees about their benefits packages.
  • Assist with M&A and Divestitures as needed, providing benefits guidance and orientations for M&A groups as needed.
  • Assist with Open Enrollment rates gathering, audit, and input.
  • Assist with Open Enrollment tasks, testing, communication review as needed.
  • Assist with Wellness initiatives as needed, partner with the EE Experience Team on initiatives such as blood drives, flu shots, ThriVe program as needed.
  • Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Oracle, Business Solver, various benefit provider systems a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • 10+ years of HR Benefits experience preferred – with relevant skills in 401(k) plan administration, executive savings plan administration, stock plan administration, pension plan administration and retiree management including retiree medical plan administration.
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Oracle, Business Solver, various benefit provider systems a plus.
  • Proven ability to gain credibility at all levels quickly, excellent relationship management skills.
  • Experience working effectively as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and proactively contributing ideas, views and recommendations for best practices and process improvement.
  • Ability to work independently with a high-level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, communication and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of Employee benefits laws and regulations
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PPT etc.), and HRIS skills
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical skills, and applies functional benefits knowledge to solve problems and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Looks for process efficiencies and streamlines processes from beginning to end with little oversight
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, and stays focused on achieving goals
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with all levels of employees, internal and external stakeholders
