Role Summary 
The Nursing Assistant works under the direction of the professional nursing staff to provide 
direct resident care within the Skilled Nursing Unit. This role assists residents with 
activities of daily living, supports individualized care plans, and helps maintain a safe, 
comfortable, and respectful environment for residents and their families. 
 

Schedule Details 
• Full Time  
• Day Shift - rotating 
• Schedule varies by assigned shift  
• Weekend and holiday rotations may be required

Responsibilities 
1. Compliance with rules and regulations of all federal, state, and local governments 
is a requirement of employment.  
2. Provides direct care to assure resident comfort.  
3. Participates in team conferences and care planning.  
4. Prepares residents for meals, assists in feeding.  
5. Maintains resident's rights.  
6. Makes rounds. Anticipates resident needs and responds to call lights.  
7. Reports to appropriate nursing personnel pertinent information including any 
changes observed in condition or behavior of resident.  
8. Provides input into resident care plans.  
9. Assists in maintaining safe and clean environment.  
10. Other duties assigned, reasonably related.  
11. Assists in orientation of nursing assistants.  
12. Completes daily documentation.  
13. Keeps informed of fire, safety, and disaster programs.  
14. Attends designated in-service programs.  
15. Participates in Performance Improvement activities.  
16. Attends staff meetings.

• Routine, repetitive duties with minor variations under close supervision 
• Good concentration, ability to interact with all age, social and economic levels 
• The ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects by planning and organizing 
own work 
• Daily stress associated with the care of chronic patient population

Physical Demands: 
• Occasionally required to push, move, and/or lift 100+ pounds 
• Occasionally required to push, move and/or lift object weighing up to 60 pounds 
• Considerable walking, standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting and 
sitting 
 

Exposure Category: 
Tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or other tissues and communicable diseases.

Qualifications 
Education 
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.  
 

Experience 
• Previous nursing assistant experience preferred, but not required.  
• Ability to read, write, and understand written and verbal communication.  
• Must follow universal precautions and utilize proper body mechanics.  
• Maintains CPR certificati
