We are a talented, hardworking group that share values and characteristics that drive client, professional, and personal success. geocgi is looking for a geospatial analyst to provide technical support of the USAID GeoCenter’s core functions. The geospatial analyst will help build the capacity of USAID’s workforce to integrate a geographic approach into Agency programs, as well as access geospatial data and tools. The geospatial analyst will aid with gathering, formatting, managing and integrating relevant data to create mapping products for visualizing international development activities. The candidate will execute the responsibilities of a geospatial analyst, which include:

  • Conduct advanced geographic analyses that provide insights and support decision-making for international development and humanitarian assistance priorities and programs.
  • Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS), cartographic software, and maintain web-based mapping applications, including GIS-based dashboards.
  • Use a multitude of physical, human, and thematic geographic data sources for conducting analyses in support of international development programming.
  • Conduct analyses of satellite data and imagery.
  • Respond to requests from USAID offices in Washington, DC and missions in the field for custom analyses and mapping. This involves working directly with requesting OUs to understand and define product deliverables (type and scope of analysis, map, and/or visualization), and complete technical aspects of the work such as data preparation, analysis, and map creation.
  • Proactively design analytical map products that enhance the Agency's work on priority U.S. government and international development programs.
  • Work with USAID field missions to support their strategic planning and program design to inform future USAID resource investments, using analytical techniques that include geographic, economic, and demographic data.
  • Working with USAID missions to use data analysis, mapping, and visualization techniques to identify factors contributing to household vulnerability and the locations of vulnerable populations.

The following are requirements of the geospatial analyst:

  • US Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a  DoD Secret Clearance.
  • 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; or 6 years of experience with a Master’s degree; or 4 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and/or Portal for ArcGIS/ArcGIS Online.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills, including preparing correspondence, written reports, and briefs.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated experience in completing projects on teams comprised of participants with diverse engineering, scientific or technical backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in/knowledge of in the use and application of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), MS Project, Primavera, CostWorks, and Success Estimator.
