Dewberry’s Raleigh, NC office includes over 200 design professionals, including a large Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural (MEPS) Group focused on design services for clients in North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. Our experience includes all major healthcare systems, higher education, K-12 schools, central plants/infrastructure, and moreRaleigh’s MEPS group contains subject matter experts in leadership roles in all major professional organizations such as ASHE, ASHRAE, etc. Our repeat clients include most of the largest hospital systems, universities, and state, local, and federal government agencies. Our MEPS service line is ranked #31 Nationally among MEP Giants, and our local Raleigh office is ranked #3 by size in engineering firms in the Triangle.

 

We are in search of an Assistant Business Unit Manager within our Healthcare team for our Raleigh, NC office.  The Assistant Business Unit Manager (ABUM) – Healthcare will be primarily responsible for assisting the Business Unit Manager (BUM) in the strategic development and growth and overall operational performance of Dewberry’s MEPS SE business unit.  Priority will be on building capacity, talent, and growing the client base in the Southeast Region.

 

The successful candidate will be a Professional Engineer with a diverse background and evidence of strong advancement in management responsibilities.  The candidate will have clearly demonstrated expertise and success in managing and motivating multiple discipline teams, developing and executing client and business development strategies that drive revenue and profit margin growth, and partnering with internal and external partners.  The selected candidate must understand and have in-depth public and private sector market knowledge and experience, and client relationships in the Southeast Region.

Responsibilities

  • Growing diverse engineering services through leadership and coordination of business development efforts among all Dewberry Service Lines, Market Segment Leaders, Client Managers, technical and operational staff.
  • Comfortable and successful with clients and business development.
  • Ability to mobilize, energize, and organize cross-functional teams for success in winning and delivering complex projects.
  • Strategic thinker, bringing market facing ideas and strategies, new service delivery methodologies, and expertise to decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Highly motivated to achieve business goals while at the same time investing and building for longer term growth and stability.
  • Powerful implementation and execution skills.
  • Ensure all operational activities conform to and integrate with organizations requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal compliance, and general policies and procedures.

 

Thorough understanding of the Southeast regional market with specific focus, to include:

  • In depth knowledge of and strong relationships with public and private sector clients in the Southeast.
  • Knowledge of entities and decision-makers, as well as regional socio-political context and history.
  • Strong network to access: key decision makers, external regional leadership and prospective colleagues and teaming partners, and construction industry leaders.

Must possess and exhibit strong leadership skills, including:

  • Strong communicator, motivator and influencer for managing an entrepreneurial initiative that will bridge current capabilities with a forward-looking vision of Dewberry’s future in the Southeast.
  • Able to co-create and share a common vision with Dewberry corporate and regional leadership for the region that invigorates client relationships and partnerships and motivates internal staff to identify new opportunities and market potential.
