Part Time Instructor - Accounting (ACCT)


The Blinn College District is searching for a Part Time Instructor - Accounting (ACCT) at our Bryan Campus. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:

Job Summary 

To perform the day-to-day operations of the accounting instructional program at the assigned campus. 

Principal Accountabilities

Instruction and Classroom Management
• Maintain access to students through office hours and electronic communication.
• Prepare, maintain and utilize an accurate course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution.
• Utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media and educational resources.
• Maintain student participation and attendance in class.
• Conduct classes and final exams punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule.

Student Success
• Advise or refer students to available academic support, advising, and counseling services.
• Maintain a positive and professional relationship with students.

Assessment Duties
• Hold sole responsibility to assess students’ performances through a range of formative and summative assessments and provide constructive feedback in a timely manner.
• Assist in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives.

Professional Development and Service
• Exhibit a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development opportunities and effective teaching methodologies.
• Actively engage in collegial activities in a professional manner across the department, college, and communities such as departmental meetings, committees, and Blinn College partner collaborations.

Institutional Responsibilities
• Submit timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions.
• Comply with all college policies and procedures.
• Exhibit effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Attend college orientations, required institutional meetings, and trainings.

Perform other related duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications

Master's degree or higher in Accounting or a Master's degree or higher with at least 18 graduate hours in accounting. 

Minimum Competencies

  • Demonstrate foundational knowledge of financial and managerial accounting, including the accounting cycle, financial statements, cost concepts, and basic budgeting.
  • Apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and explain their relevance to business decision-making.
  • Clearly explain accounting concepts and procedures to a diverse student population, using practical examples.
  • Deliver instruction aligned with approved course learning outcomes and institutional standards.
  • Develop and administer appropriate assessments (e.g., problem sets, exams, applied assignments) and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrate basic quantitative proficiency, including interpreting financial statements and accounting data.
  • Use the institution’s learning management system (LMS) D2L and required instructional technologies to support student learning.
  • Maintain a professional, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Adhere to institutional policies, academic integrity standards, and ethical teaching practices.
  • Demonstrate reliability, preparedness, and effective communication in fulfilling instructional responsibilities.


Preferred Competencies 

  • College-level teaching experience teaching introductory financial and managerial accounting courses.
  • Ability to integrate real-world, business, or policy-based examples into instruction.
  • Experience teaching in online or hybrid learning environments.
  • Familiarity with active and applied learning strategies that support student engagement.
  • Experience using learning management systems and instructional technologies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered and inclusive teaching practices.
