Position Summary

  • Provide circulation desk assistance to library patrons, including students, faculty, attorneys, and self-represented members of the public.
  • Perform administrative tasks, which could include updating print materials, running circulation reports, and stacks maintenance.
  • Open or close the library at the beginning or end of the day if working those shifts.
  • Answer questions about library policies.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide circulation services to library patrons.
  • Check in and check out materials using the Sierra ILS.
  • Answer logistical, collection, and library policy questions.
  • Administrative Services.
  • May be asked to help process government documents and serials.
  • Depending on shift, may involve opening and closing the library.
  • Perform projects as assigned.

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education – A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or 18 months to four years of work experience in a related field. 
  • Experience – None.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be a team player with a willingness to perform other duties as assigned.


Physical Requirements

Job requires repetitive lifting of light weight objects with frequent bending and stooping, or repetitively lift average weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds).


Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.


Salary/Pay Information  

Commensurate with experience

   

Anticipated Schedule  

This is a part-time position with variable hours working less than 20 hours per week. Evenings and weekends. May be asked to regularly work evening and weekend shifts, if necessary.
