Job Description Summary

Summary:

The Central Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) is dedicated to establishing and maintaining strategic relationships between Penn and a wide range of local and national corporations and foundations. We focus specifically on identifying and connecting prospective institutional partners with Penn leaders and faculty members who have shared interests and complementary goals. Our expertise covers Penn’s teaching, research, and public service activities as well as knowledge of the University’s broader institutional needs for endowed faculty positions, student scholarship support, and capital needs. CFR works closely with all school, center, and central development units on prospect assignments, solicitation strategies, and proposal development. We work to promote University priorities as defined by the Board of Trustees, the President, the Provost, and the Deans and Directors of Penn’s Schools and Centers. We also coordinate our efforts with the Vice Provost for Research and the Office of Research Services.

Description:

As part of the central Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR), the Associate Director assists in maximizing philanthropic funding from companies and corporate foundations to support priority research programs/activities across the University, especially within the science, engineering, and health Schools. The Associate Director will be an experienced fundraiser with a proven track record in raising philanthropic six-figure and larger gifts and grants from national companies, with a preference in the science and health fields. Some familiarity with sponsored research contracts is also preferred. In addition, the Associate Director will manage and oversee the corporate prospect management function for central CFR and Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) and serve as a link to the administrative research offices at Penn, including the Penn Center for Innovation (PCI).

The Associate Director plays a key role in identifying and implementing strategies, activities, communications, and coordinated outreach to enhance corporate/University partnerships and to cultivate and solicit these constituencies for support of University programs. As such, the Associate Director should understand and communicate effectively the scientific, technical, educational, financial and HR aspects of University projects.
