Job Description
The Oncology Therapeutic Area Unit is a multi-disciplinary R&D team responsible for advancing our cutting-edge Oncology pipeline from the "bench" to the "bedside."
As part of the Takeda ONE Oncology Community, OTAU partners closely with the Oncology Drug Discovery Unit, the Oncology Business Unit and Takeda Development Partners to bring transformational oncology medicines to patients.
Job Description:
A primary focus for the internship will be to provide benchmarking and background research on oncology R&D portfolios and communicated strategies of key pharma competitors, providing a critical view of lessons learned and recommendations in support of Takeda Oncology’s goal of building a sustainable, risk-balanced and differentiated pipeline.
The intern will:
- perform portfolio-, indication-, mechanism- and modality-level data analyses to enable portfolio strategy initiatives across the Oncology Therapeutic Area Unit (OTAU)
- Work with cross-functional teams to support ongoing clinical programs and characterizing potential future directions for the OTAU
- Present to senior leaders of the oncology organization and guide strategy within the TAU and the broader R&D organization.
Internship Development Opportunities:
- Lead strategic initiatives under the direction of the OTAU Strategy and Operations team to contribute to portfolio management and strategy, and help develop mechanisms to effectively respond to evolving business needs
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the oncology marketplace, including key industry trends
- Mentorship from seasoned professional within the OTAU Strategy & Operations team to gain industry insights and career advice
- Network and collaborate with experienced industry experts in Takeda colleagues across various functions and business units
- Project findings will be socialized across the oncology and R&D organization, resulting in impactful reflections and updates to oncology strategy priorities
Job Requirements:
- This position will be Fully Onsite and require 4+ days in the Cambridge office per week.
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral Degree with exposure to Biomedical / Device Engineering or Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Familiarity with drug administration system devices, data analysis and reporting tools, Project management skills
- Basic understanding of computer skills including MS Office (PowerPoint, Words, Excel)
- Internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and information gathering
- Highly reliable and a strong team player
- Flexible with an attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Internship Eligibility
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
- Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later
- The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 22nd) or (June 16th - August 29th)
