Indian River Hospital’s 4 East Unit is a Medical/Surgical Unit that provides exceptional care to diverse populations of patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical diagnoses. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on this team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment. This position offers the ability to pursue numerous educational advancement opportunities, advanced positions and skills development courses offered by Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you also have an excellent avenue in which to start your nursing career.
A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:45PM – 7:15AM, with weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assist nursing caregivers, promote patient comfort and carry out nursing orders.
Transport patients by wheelchair, bed or stretcher from the department/unit.
Conduct EKG and phlebotomy duties.
Attend to patient and family needs and problems.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing and hygiene.
Report pertinent information regarding patient condition to appropriate nursing staff.
Assist patients with tray set up and feeding.
Restock supplies daily and order supplies from Central Supply.
Document care provided in the medical record.
Collect and transport specimens.
Provide RNs/LPNs with accurate and timely intake/output data, vital signs, blood glucose results and other data, note changes from prior measurement and communicate accordingly.
Respond to call lights within five minutes or communicate
