(Job #538552) Administrative Analyst/Specialist II, Working Title, Assistant Project Manager, Salary Range: $5,537 - $10,014 monthly. Hiring Range: $5,834 - $6,432 monthly. This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, 12-month pay plan permanent position with a one-year probationary period in the Planning, Design and Construction Department. Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Construction Manager and general oversight provided by the Director of Planning, Design & Construction, and in collaboration with colleagues across the campus, the incumbent is responsible for supporting and assisting assigned construction projects. This includes efforts associated with all aspects of project coordination during the development, planning and design phases with specialized focus and emphasis on the construction and closeout phases of a project. This position is required to interface with a variety of colleges and departments, including faculty, staff, administrators, State Fire Marshal, various professional consultants, contractors, and vendors.
The Project Coordinator will be assigned a project portfolio that will include multiple projects in varying stages with specific tasks for each project. At the Direction of the Construction Manager and in support of the Project Manager for each project, the Assistant Project Manager will accomplish specific tasks to ensure the project stays within the constraints. At a minimum, the Project Coordinator is responsible for updating the Project Managers daily on work and update the Construction Manager weekly or as required for project advancement. The Construction Manager will provide clear direction on expected deliverables and approval provisions. The Assistant Project Manager is expected to work in collaboration with Project Managers, Construction Manager, and the Director and to advance projects in the best interests of the University.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination and Collaboration – 30%
- Assists in project implementation ensuring a successful performance level (scope, safety, quality, schedule, cost, and client satisfaction) is achieved.
- Assists with all assigned projects to ensure they are managed in alignment with the University's Capital Outlay Management Plan as well as any corresponding CSU or State of California regulation governing University projects.
- Represents the University by collaborating with assigned Project Manager, Construction Manager, and members of the project team (campus groups, university officials, project architects, engineers, contractors, inspectors, etc.) during all project phases. Coordinates as necessary during the planning and design phases with the Construction Administrator, Building Official and the Planning/Design Unit.
