Who will you be working with?
The Electrical Integration (EI) Team specializes in the design and implementation of wiring harnesses for locomotives. Leveraging their technical expertise and industry-leading knowledge, they methodically map out the intricate network of electrical connections, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, manufacturability, and safety standards are met. From conceptualization to execution, the team navigates through complex engineering challenges, considering factors such as voltage requirements, signal integrity, power consumption, packaging requirements, and environmental durability. This is accomplished utilizing cutting-edge modeling software, advanced schematic creation tools, and proven engineering processes which ensure optimum efficiency and accuracy of the wiring harness design.
How will you make a difference?
The Cable Conduit Packaging Specialist is responsible for engineering design of electrical system for locomotives, including point to point wiring, schematics, and packaging. You will be working on latest technology, high business impact, global projects that give exposure to working with senior technologists & leaders. You will be demonstrating strong technical skills to meet business critical needs and by following robust Wabtec Business & Engineering processes.
What do we want to know about you?
Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Engineering OR
Associate’s degree with combined electrical or electronics engineering experience.
Understanding and working experience on electrical schematics and wire list.
Knowledge of tools like, Zuken E3, AutoCAD Electrical, Wilmor, Oracle, Siemens NX, MS Office Suite.
Understanding of Engineering drawings and manufacturing BOM.
Strong interpersonal skills, good written and oral communication skills.
What will your typical day look like?
Track and execute, with general guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define, and support assigned components, assemblies, or systems that meet business standards and program/ product requirements.
Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Generate new and fresh ideas to everyday processes and act accordingly upon on them.
Support manufacturing and correlated areas by researching issues, interacting with the shop floor, and ensuring communication of the resolution to each issue in a timely manner.
Responsibilities include development of concept design, detailed design and design analysis for locomotive mechanical routing and packaging of power cabling, control and network wiring, conduits, and different electrical components on various locomotive projects.
Interactions will include engineering sub-system teams; systems engineering; drafting team and supply chain operations across the global sites.
Review and approve designs developed by Wabtec designers & detailed drawings completed by drafting.
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
Lead technical design reviews following the Business Tollgate Design Review process and the area guides.
