Master’s or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant Physiology, or a closely related field

Demonstrated experience designing, managing, and reporting on agronomic research trials

Strong understanding of crop production systems and associated agronomic practices

Experience with data analysis and statistical software commonly used in agronomic research

Experience communicating research findings to stakeholders, sponsors, or industry partners

Successful track record in writing and securing grant funding.

Experience leading project teams, including supervising staff, mentoring team members, and supporting employee development, and performance management.

Job Description:

The Digital Agriculture Innovations Lab (www.isudigitalag.org) at Iowa State University (ISU) is seeking a Digital Agronomy Research Manager to join our dynamic team.  This position will provide technical and program management leadership to digital agriculture, precision agriculture, and agronomy research projects. This includes overseeing the implementation and evaluation of cutting-edge solutions to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Manage all aspects of agronomic research planning, coordination, quality control, execution, and reporting within the Digital Agriculture Innovations Team

  • Recruit, supervise, and mentor full and part-time staff to execute agronomic research programs 

  • Interact regularly with research sponsors and stakeholders to communicate project outcomes

  • Collaborate with technical partners to align project deliverables

  • Provide thought leadership to future research programs.   

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively; complete projects within a specified timeline; meet project design criteria; communicate effectively and provide technical leadership to design team members; and ensure a safe working environment for project staff. 

Candidate will be hired as a Manager Research & Development Engineering.

This is an initial three-year term position, with expectation for renewal based on availability of funding.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
