Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Construction Services Lead for the Water Sector to be based in Orange, CA. This exciting position will be responsible for leading AECOM’s efforts for construction management and construction phase services for a variety of water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Southern California. You will lead and coordinate AECOM’s construction efforts, including providing direction to a team of construction managers, resident engineers, inspectors, schedulers and estimators. The ideal candidate will need to have experience in municipal water/wastewater projects, and water resource projects with construction values over 100MM in scope. Responsibilities will include supporting for hiring for various on-call contracts.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
- Provide management, administration, and oversight of Project construction contract(s).
- Support the development of job-specific safety programs with the contractor(s) and support the identification of competent safety professionals to monitor job site safety.
- Support the development of construction work and phasing plans and make recommendations to minimize disruption to Construction operations.
- Participate in constructability reviews for water/wastewater infrastructure projects
- Review and/or prepare construction quality assurance/quality control plans.
- Work with PMs to identify personnel to be assigned for technical, part- or full-time, on-site quality assurance and code compliance oversight and inspection, including specialty inspections as needed, of the progress and quality of the construction work.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions, delays, and cost overruns.
- Support material receiving reviews, which may require examining materials and equipment being incorporated into the work to verify that approved submittals support them, are handled, stored, and installed correctly.
- Oversee that onsite personnel are filing appropriate inspector’s daily reports and engineer’s reports for contract records.
- Manage and review the submission of samples, shop drawings, Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, and other submittals for contract and code compliance.
- Review and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other third parties, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements.
- Identify resources to address problems encountered in accomplishing the construction work and recommend appropriate action to resolve issues with a minimum effect on the Project's timely completion.
- Support review of progress pay requests for accuracy and recommend approval.
- Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities to ensure projects remain within budgetary constraints.
- Review Contractor reports, as-built drawings, and other construction documentation and ensure information is appropriately captured in Construction records.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Must possess a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- BA/BS in Engineering, Project or Construction Management;
- Class C driver’s license is preferred
- 10 years of relevant experience
